How we use your recordings
This is the plain-language version of what you agree to when you submit a clip. The formal detail is in the privacy notice.
-
1. You record, nothing is sent
The camera runs in your browser. Hand and body positions are extracted on your device. Nothing leaves your computer until you press submit — if you close the tab, the recording is gone.
-
2. A human reviews it
A reviewer checks the clip actually shows the sign you labelled. Accidental recordings, wrong labels and unusable takes are rejected and deleted.
-
3. It becomes a public example
Approved clips appear on that sign's dictionary page so learners can see the sign performed by different people. Your face is visible — sign languages use facial expression as grammar, so clips cannot be anonymised without destroying them.
-
4. It trains the model and joins the open dataset
The landmark data trains sign recognition, and approved clips are published in an openly licensed dataset so other researchers and Deaf-serving organizations can build on it rather than starting over.
-
5. You can change your mind
Email support@softbrane.com and we will remove your recordings. Copies already downloaded from an earlier dataset release cannot be recalled — please only submit clips you are comfortable being public and permanent.
